Hi everyone! For those that do not know, I have been taking a summer course with my university all about blogging. It has been a lot of fun to continue my blogging journey and see the other blogs my fellow classmates have created. As a part of a final assignment, I have a few questions to answer for class.
What did you think of the blogging?
I loved it! I have had this blog since Fall of 2019. It started as a project for my social media strategies class. I took a break in the Spring with everything became crazy with COVID-19. This class really allowed me to gain more experience and love for blogging.
2. Did you enjoy writing the blog? Why or why not?
I did enjoy blogging! I enjoy writing. I love learning about the people I interview on the blog. I also throughout the last few blogs expanded into other blogs besides interviews. This class really allowed me to gain my confidence when it comes to posting more blogs that are not just interviews.
3. What did you like about blogging and what did you dislike?
I love that blogging is such a creative experience. I blog about something that I love and am passionate about. I am not forced to write about a topic that I hate. Blogs are as unique as the individual that writes them. That is what I truly love about blogging. As far as what I dislike, is the fact that sometimes life happens and you forget to post. Sometimes you get writers block or an interviewer takes longer than you thought to get back to you. However, these are some minor issues, but they are issues I have encountered since starting my blog.
4. Will you keep blogging? Why or why not? If so, will you keep blogging on this beat or choose another one?
I am planning on continuing my blog because I love it. This is a topic I am super passionate about. A blog like this is something I wish I would have had a few years ago. I also have met so many wonderful people through my blog. I also have rediscovered my love of writing through my blog. I plan on continuing on writing on this beat. However, I also plan to expand upon just interviews. I would love to write some more personal blogs and continue to share more resources.
5. Is blogging a good way to tell stories? Why or why not?
I believe so! I tell the stories of women throughout the the theatre on my blog. I have the privilege to share so many different women’s amazing stories. From a young gal who started her theatre themed bow company to a young woman who love theatre and is a mental health and body positivity. I get to share so many amazing stories and those are just two examples. In a bigger picture, I believe that all writing in some sense is storytelling. I also have a Instagram for my blog, where I share my blog posts and well as other things. To help promote my blog and create a community. In the end, I do believe that blogging a good way to not only tell stories but promote them.
6. What do you wish you’d known before taking this class?
This is super cheesy, but here it goes. I wish I would have known how much I would grow as writer. I was pretty set on continuing my blog to just be interviews when I started this class. This class allowed me to gain more confidence writing. I now have started to branch out into more blog that are just not interviews. I hope to continue this in the future. Thank you Professor Klyde-Allaman for helping me grow not only my blog but also my confidence in my own writing.
Thank you for all the people who continue to support me on my blog journey. I am so grateful for this little community and for all the amazing people I have virtually met because my blog. I am so grateful.
Until next time,
Marisa
